Solenoid on Bulkhead in Engine Compartment

I have an 88 Bullet with a large 4 prong solenoid on the bulkhead in the engine compartment. I have 2 positve battery cables hooking into the bottom 2 prongs and other wires going to the top 2 prongs. Does anybody have a part number for this solenoid?

Thanks

That is the one for the battery paralel (sp.) switch. Take it up to any NAPA. They should have them on the shelf. Should be the same a an old Ford starter solenoid.

Having a starting problem with my bullet. When I use the starting rocker switch I get a clicking sound from this solenoid and thats it. No voltage at the starter solenoid(yel/red wire) or @ the y/r wire at the main harness 10 pin plug. The engine doesn't turn over, yet with the key on I can jump the red and y/r on the solenoid by the water sep. filter and start the engine. If the bulkhead mounted solenoid were bad would it prevent the engine from starting?

No, the relay connects both batteries together for a start but one battery will start it. How about your neutral switch?

Check the starter slave relay. Mine is mounted on the under side of the bracket which holds the Merc. Harness connector at the back of the engine. If one is bad replace both because you know the other one will be going soon. There are two different style relays so make sure you get the correct one. Mine is also an 88 and I have the flat style.

neutral safety switch checked out okay, even swapped the wire from one to the other with no luck. Replaced the starter slave solenoid with no luck either. Going to check out the push to start rocker switch next.

You have the "port" AND "starboard" switch "on" on the switch panel just inside the cabin door? Sometimes somebody hits the switch coming in or out of the cabin which shuts the engine down.
