I think properly proportioned bolsters would give you more cockpit space especially with drop out seats.
As far as storage, create some side storage compartments for what goes in the bench seat.

I only have an anchor, lines, swipes, and shore power cords in my flip up bench.

By the way, the darks and silvers will look very understated and classy in my opinion. I like red too but I think the direction you're going in works well.

I really like the M8's and trannies. Super strong setup and lower center of gravity than six drives for the '39. Cig believes the rear hatch may be standard hight as a result and this is very important to me and the main reason for the setup. Should know by tomorrow actual height. When the boat is used locally and rafting in a bay, the rear hatch is a great space to hangout.
