Default Trs Gimbal Removal

This guy by me is parting a 83 scarab III out and I bought the drives, tie bar, gimbals, and the transome plates. So I got the drives and rams off and in my basement, and cannot get to 2 nuts on for the gimbals, the transmission bracket is in the way I got the 4 nuts off above the transome, and the 2 at the very bottom any suggestions? I get a socket half way on it and it slips off.

I had the guy give me a receipt and if he sells the motors soon that I can get the gimbals and transome plates off easy. I just want get most of it home. I want the gimbals ans I can wait on the transome plates.

Are you trying to get the transom assembly out of the boat with the engines and trannys in the boat?

Ah yes, this is a superb pain. You can get a box wrench on and approx 1/764th of a turn at a time. It takes forever!

Get a shallow socket and a short universal on there.

If the motors are not on 4 point mounts, ( front and rear plates ) what is going to hold the engine up when you remove the gimbal assembly?

Khris the Gimbals should just unblot from the inside with the 8 3/4 nuts, then it should just come off the transome am I correct?. All the steering is disconnected. I know you cannot take the transome plates off untill the motors and transes are out. do you have a phone number Kris so maybe you can help me with the answer
