I would check the lifter bore clearance in the block just to make make sure it wasn't to tight. The other engine would be getting inspected as well if it was mine.

Pulled head, looks ok there, I gonna pull the valve and make sure guide is not gumming up, had that once before.... but never with bronze but I am checking everything...may have just been bad luck!

It's cool, just hang onto them for now. If you don't use them let me know, I might sell them. Don't think I can use them anyways, will for sure hit the limiter is my guess with the engines going in my boat.
