For the guys that ran the Cig event
I don't have much seat time in the two TG's that I've owned, and last weekend end was the first for me at LOTO, no doubt it was pretty chewed up ( snotty water ) on the runs, my question is how much tab were you guys running and drive placement.
thanks

When it's a little bumpy out on Erie, I've seen that even or negative trim on the drives (5s), and even or -1, -2 on tabs works pretty well. My drives are pretty high though, even with bottom.
I had a tab issue last Friday where a ground wire worked loose so I did not have tabs in 2-4 fters, needless to say there were a few waves that sent the bow up 8-10ft above the water! Felt like I was on a swing-set....
I like to run tabs negative and drives even because it give a better ride and keeps the boat hooked up. I loose around 5mph, but the ride is more enjoyable, and the boat flies level instead of bow up.
Again, I only have about 2.5 hr run time on my boat.

I'm running a flat bottom cig with #3 drives raised x so my props are pretty high. When running down the river on a busy day I'm usually running my drives trimmed up to 3 and tabs on -2 when cruising between 3300-3600 rpm but when I get up over 4000 rpm or anything over 65mph I can pick the tabs all the way up and the bow will stay down but dragging some tab helps stop that side to side chine walk when taking wakes from the side. I think you're going to find a wide verity of answers depending on drive/engine configuration and prop dimensions.
Oh and was not at the cig rendezvous last week though I wish I was.

^^^Good point(s) Shep. Different ballgame over 65mph. I was referring to cruising at 55-65mph.
I would think there is some differnce between surfacing drives and below water prop placement. ?

I boat on LOTO every weekend, and was on the rendezvous. My T/S has 525's and ITS Bravo XR's with shorties. My boat handles and runs good with the drives around a 3-4 and tabs level or negative a bit in that kind of water. Negative tab keeps the bow down and boat flying level in the choppy water.

We figured out the following weekend where the water actually came from. Had nothing to do with cruiser wakes. The water line feeding the oil cooler had come loose. This is about 6" from the distributor. At high RPMs it was spraying water directly on the cap and coil.
That helped explain over 12" of water in the bilge in that amount of time.
