Cig w/surface drives
Anyone had any experience with this set up. I know Zero Cavity tried the pulse. Has anyone else tried this, especially arnesons.

Re: Cig w/surface drives
I have been thinking about the same thing for quite some time.
Along these lines I have had some rather in-depth discussions with Michael Peters who was the original designer on the Twin Step Top Gun and he mentioned that he had been "pitching" the idea to Cig for years. But never could get them to try it. (I was suprised and couldn't believe it when he took my call)
Also Rik Wimp from Arneson Industries has been very forthcoming with his expertisse and knowledge and tipped me well in advance to watch for the Formula Article in Powerboat a couple of months back on the 382 Fastech with ASD-6 drives.
I really do think that this is an idea whose time is coming . But I'd like to get the same input as you as to what the possible downsides are if any.
Also did "Blown Away" the Formula 382 Fastech featured in powerboat make it to Key West this year? His experience would be invaluable.

Re: Cig w/surface drives
We just stepped up our engine program as well on our 97 non stepped Gun and will also need way stronger drives for 05.
The new Bravo replacement Arnesons look like a great choice, however I also can't find anyone who has used them on any style Gun stepped or not!

Talk about your sysiphian tasks! I'd imagine that conversation wouldn't make the Boys of Fond du Lac very happy campers.'Bout like trying to convince Microsoft to divorce themselves from Intel. I wonder if we could get any of the boat builders on OSO to tell the truth about the Merc "groundrules".

Re: Cig w/surface drives
there is an old pink one here in Clear lake with arnesons.... boat has 540's in it and I believe it's only been to the water twice in the last 10 years.... one time I saw them fishing off of it and the other was it's tes run... boat suposively never got on plane... With these old combinations that didn't work correctly, I think people are lenient to try it again... but props have come a long ways since the 80's

Whew, old thread.
Zero Cavity was quickly switched back to conventional drives after trying the pulse application.
Jassman: I think there are some Hustlers that have surface drive applications.
