Coring in Top Guns
Anyone know the history of Cigarettes use of core material in their hull construction ? Watched the Cigarette show on the History Channel last Sat. and they were using what appeared to be Baltec coring for bulkheads.
I've heard of the Kevlar hulls
the kevlar w/ carbon fiber hulls
and the basic laminated hull.
When did Cigarette begin using Baltec coring and where do they use it besides bulkheads ?
Transom ?
Stringers ?
Deck ?

Re: Coring in Top Guns
New ones use prisma for stringers forward of engine compartment. Prisma is a low density foam stringer beam and can be seen at www.preforms.com The use Balsa for the core and the Balsa Decolite panels for the bulkheads. The transoms are mad by Aircel and are ordered pre cut. The engine stringers are good old fashioned wood. Pretty sure older boats were all wood stringers, bulkheads and balsa cored.
