Toleman pic is from 1981 upper Detroit river race, [date in lower corner of pic] you are right the Sehawk & Collection are later from the Stroh's Beer Downriver Challenge.

4 BOATS KILLED :)

Re: What happened to all the TIN boats??
The Toleman aluminum cat was a breakthrough of sorts. It was the first one with the rear bottom panels parallel with the datum line. Up to then, if you sat a cat on the floor, all of the bottom panels would touch the floor at the aft inside corner. That one had the rear panel parallel with the floor. All the pickups had to be moved from the trasom for the aft step. It was also the first UIM Class 1 boat to average over a hundred in the measured mile.

Re: What happened to all the TIN boats??
Patrick,
I sent a pm, but I think it was around the time there seemed to be some technical issues with the site. If you're inclined to do so, please email me info about your CUV. You can reach me at PAI_Racing@hotmail.com. Thanks.

Re: What happened to all the TIN boats??
Nope. Same boat. We took the 38' cat, and stretched it to 46' and put four Sabre diesels in it for around Britain in 84 or 85. It had the courtesy to sink at Land's End in the race.

that is correct...It looks like Harold "Smitty" Smith with his helmet off, the throttleman/crew chief. He's also my son, Darren's, favorite all time throttleman (see the two of them pictured below), and they had a truly special bond....may he rest in peace.
