Re: Dry Martini!!!! AWESOME!!!

Dry Martini update,

I was at Kurts on Saturday taking pictures for the website, talking to Kurt about the Dry Martini boat and he pulled out two folders full of polaroids from before the restoration. Some cool pictures of the boat but I will have to scan them.

The question went out about the engines and the story was they were sitting the the storage area. Kurt brought down the Fuel injection stacks and intake. My questions about the engines must have lit a fire somewhere before I knew it they were pulling parts out of storage and started bead blasting.

Kurt's has started to rebuild the KAM engines and I'll have pictures and progress reports posted on their site soon.

Re: Dry Martini!!!! AWESOME!!!

Nigel, surely tapes of competitions offshore of the sixties and seventies exist in Europe and in Usa as documentaries for some sponsors, or for the UIM itself and the tapes of the Tv lives.
It would be enough to find them in their archives....

Phil, about the Dry Martini,it was possible that the English David... Hagan leased the boat in 1980.And in 1979 to the Benihana had raced really John Amato?

Ok Phil but the question was another: I have an information that the English was on the Dry Martini in the 1980 Benihana Trophy. Who could be in the Dry Martini #8 of the photo published by Ron Polli and shot probably in 1979?

Nigel,
I surely agree upon the awesome job put in Dry Martini, and I hope Kurt is getting the engines together. Although my story is not as spectacular as to how I got hold of the original Aeromarine 3 engines dusty for 20 years, I am also anxious as to how they sound and that we are at least two saving those collectibles. See photos of mine here:

Marco -

Must have been John Amato - the owner, Sal Scafidi and Wayne Zaycek - as the boat only raced in NJ under John's ownership once- and the other time in NJ was with David Hagen - which year was which - only they would know -

Phil

PS - were you in Viareggio in 1993 - when the race was called off because it was too rough ? I spoke to Jack Stuteville a week later- and he asked me if the waves were coming over the Sea Wall - I said NO - however he said years ago - even with waves coming over the sea wall - they still raced - just an interesting angle of where "offshore" racing has become.
