1970 Kiekhaefer 427 engine help

I just found that the spare engine that came with my bnoat is a 1970 427 Kiekhaefer race block. it took a few weeks of research to track it down and a ton of help from gm restoration parts guys. (guy i bought it from said it was a 454 nad thats all he knew)
Has anyone ever heard of this. it was put in some race boat on Sept 10 1970 at a Kiekhaefer location.
Any idea what its worth? it has been bored .060 over but never decked so itstill has the original suffix still on it.
I dont want to use it and destroy it if it has some special history behind it.

Thanks

Not "any" value as it´s already bored to the last oversize.
But someone could have some remote interest in it.
Probably 7xChamp could answer your questions best.

Call Innovation Marine in Sarasota.

They just did all the resto work on the first race boat called ...The Cigarette. It was a Formula with a 409 GM engine in it.

According to the guys at GM, the block is good for .125 over with no problems. it still has a good cleaning or two in it.

Most likley the 427 you talk about is an early Merc. before Aeromarine. I was the main engine engine guy at Aeromarine in 1970 and 1971 we only used the long block 482`s bought direct from Merc, then we would run our cams, valves, and heads, and carbs. when they were punched 30 over they were 496`s. From the 482`s we direct to the 454 blocks direct from GM, and those punched out became 468`s then scrapped. Your 427 had to have been from the boat house Wayne Meyers, pre 482 vintage probably 1965 to 1968. Hope info. helps. 7XCHAMP

Was this early 427 a tall deck siamese bore?

Re: 1970 Kiekhaefer 427 engine help

The boat is a predator which was aero marine at one time but the engine was put in there a few years back and then removed due to a cylinder head problem. It was not in the boat when purchased(it had 2 outboards from predator) but when i bought the boat the guy gave me everything fresh from the machine shop to reassemble it.

if you were at aero, were you along for the ride at predator too?

Thanks for all your help..

I think somehow we got mixed up with Kiekhaefer Aeromarine, and maybe another co. called aeromarine, which must have had something to do with predator boats, I was with Mercury and Kiekhaefer Aeromarine from 1967 to 1972 as a test driver, engineer, and factory team driver. Sorry but I had no experience with predator boats. Sorry for any confusion. 7XCHAMP

I wouldn´t bet my money on it...an old marine engine and such...sonic check is the only "guarantee" and still you´d end up short sometimes.
I myself toss every SBC or BBC after 060 oversize excpet the 400 SBC which is gone after 030 just to be sure... and I am a machinist by profession.
