She's finally here....... 29' Mirage for restoration.
A few of you might remember I bought this boat late last year from a guy in DE, a few people on OSO had some great history on her.
Well....it's here I've had it about 2 weeks now,..just stripping the hull of all it's hardware and removed everything inside the cockpit and cabin to prep for new paint or gelcoat (haven't decided yet).
I will post some more pic's very soon. I have a ton of questions to ask,..but will start specific threads for those.
New power, drives, interior, gauges.....the whole nine!!!!
Let the fun begin...

I was told that it Was Arnolds Boat From Arnolds Yacht Basin in NJ. It was run for two years, then the power and drives removed, and covered and stored for 20 some years.

New Pics....and a serious question
Here are some pictures...
Pic 1 : How I bought the boat with the triple man bolster.
Pic's after that are after removal of the cockpit bolster, and cabin. It was done in the infamous "white fur"...sorry had to go.
I have very carefully removed all of the teak and will be re-using a large portion of it in the final product. I will be removing the cabin doors (one was almost completley gone), and the 4 small doors for the compartments in the lower mid cockpit area for good. There' actually glassed in compartments...not to bad but the cut-out will be filled.
Now the bilge area,..very very solid. It will be completley filled and re epoxied in either grey or white.
The BIG # 1 question right now is choice of power....here's how I see it.
The boat came with merc 280's..thru TRS's. To my knowledge the only other outdrive that fits a TRS cut-out is the Kornrad. I would rather use a Merc XR outdrive...and actually really like them. So the transom needs to be filled,......but I am considering the conversion to a single 598 instead of 2 SBC'c.
This will take some carefull engineering but I think for the loss in top speed...I'll make up for in being a thousand pounds lighter, and I can improve on my X dim too.
Comments please......what do you guys think?
More pics of everything removed and stage one cleaning in a few days.
My budget is about 45k btw, and I'll be doing all the rigging myself.
