What a cool thread. Good luck with the resto.

Ritchie thanks for sharing the story about Mr. K really cool.

So can you say you have all the pieces to make it operational with the turbo motors? Looks like the turbos I've seen in old CrisCrafts.
Do the present Vdrives connect to surface drives with shafts under the motors?

Amazing Stuff. Thanks for sharing

The motors and drives were operational last time it was run. Hopefully it won't take to much to get it going again. The previous owner said that it should have intercoolers to develope full power but it would run 70 mph as it is powered now.
The conversion was done in the mid 80's with all new engines and arneson surface drives. Everything looks to be in good shape. The gas in the tanks even smells good! Must of used Stabil gas treatment. I put some in my 68 camaro when I stored it in 1981, just put a new engine in it and the gas was still good, as a matter of fact it still has gas in it from 1981! Haven't added any yet, the can say's it will store gas indefinitely! So remember that when you store your boats or anything else that is gas powered. Believe it !!!

dmax3500 thanks for the offer! I will keep that in mind, if I can help you in any way let me know!

Does anybody know where in can find some color pics of the tunderbird in it's original finish? I really need some help in this area. Part of the video that I have is color but the images are not real clear and are from a distance away. This is a great video of parts of the 1966 sam griffith race. It also has close ups of the cockpit area with 8 people in it after the race

I really need some pictures of this boat when it was raced by jim wynne as the original thunderbird #15. I want to make this boat as original as possible but I have very little to go on. I would also like to get some pictures of the boat as it was raced by Mr k. as the mona lou 2 # 70, and when billy martins had it as the hustler 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to get it ship shape for the reunion but even at this point I am not sure I would be able to bring it down there, it's a long way and this boat and trailer weigh in at 12000 lb's. It would be alot of work and a lot of $$$$ to get this thing ready and transport it down there.

Any way a little help with pictures would go along way
