The Heavier Boat (79 Red Bounty Hunter) was sold to Fayva shoes and is the Restored Boat for sale Now in this post. That boat Was in storage until 5 months ago with the original gelcoat, From our Understanding Kieth Ekert Built the engines that are in that boat right now, I am Sure Those are Very strong, and Reliable Motors!
Popeyes is the Blue (Lighter) "Halter Racing" Boat which is the Splash Painted Boat that pops up for sale from time to time.
Third Boat: the phantom (I only say that because Bob Idoni "thinks" there was a third made), To anyones knowledge never entered the racing world or has ever been seen. This Boat is a big ?????????? (we didnt even know this was made)

Both Boats Are Awsome. Cant say a bad thing bout either one. The Blue Boat was lighter (Roughly 1200lbs) than the red, but Both boats were Great Offshore Racers. Either boat would be a great buy, and obviously a boat that you would not see in every marina around.

I have just gone out of the darkened room and I have not been able to participate in the last posts.
However Billy Martin has clarified everything.
As for Idoni instead I believe that the third one 39' not ever existed, at least in the competitions. Not streets the least trace in all the documents that I have (Searace, Powerboat Mag.Sp.,Popular Perform. boat etc.) of this third bubbledeck.
The history of the bubbledecks begins with Martin(throttle) and Sahlman(steer) the May 12 of 1979 to the Bacardi Trophy off Miami Beach, where sets a promising second place behind the Scarab of Betty Cook.
It seems that Martin abandoned that boat after the first race.
Martin can confirm that.

The boat was sold to Michael Meynard after this was invited by Martin to see a offshore competition to the following competition the Bacardi, the Lombardo / Halter Classic to Freeport, Long Island.
I have not info for saying if raced Meynard some competitions in USA before presenting to Poole in England for the Needles Trophy. Raced then to Cowes but two retires was the results in the English races. Gone better to Porto Cervo in Sardinia in September where Meynard was second behind the CUV 38' of De Angelis.

In the 1980 Meynard he used to bring to the competitions of the APBA championship two boats;the new cat Cougar in wood of 38' and the Cigarette 39', this last time only modified in the name Fayva and with the race number of Meynard the famous one #13.
Surely Meynard e Idoni drove it to the Warmington Grand Prix of March 15 ,finishing 4th.
In 1981 to the ill-omened Halter 200 in New Orleans the March 28,made his debutt a second 39' bubbledeck for the official team of Halter. More light of the precedent and painting in blue dark color named Halter Racing for Willy Meyers and Wayne Vickers that finished third.
Then maybe Martin drove that boat with Mike Drury in the Bacardi Trophy the May 9 finishing 4th.

In the 1982 Meynard perhaps attracted by the 39 blue smaller weight acquires the boat and it brings it to the competitions together with the cat, leaving the colorations unchanged but applying only his typical name Fayva Shoes.
In the same 1982 and exactly on August 14 to Saugatuk for the Coral Gables on the Lake Michigan Copeland made him returns racing with a 39' white bubbledeck, the Popeyes.
Is perhaps this the third boat? Or does Meynard for Key West in november purchase the boat from Copeland and he re-paint as it was in 1981?

The red 39' unchanged reappears in 1985, without name.
In 1986 the Japanese Kobayashi buying the whole team of Meynard also acquires the 39' that he leaves unchanged and with which competes to the world final of Auckland in New Zealand exactly putting the flag nippon to the place of the original star and stripes and putting the name Bengal.
This is the last time that a 39' raced a competition.

Here as to recognize among them with the particular ones.
To for instance notice the air scopes above the engines hatches and the exit of air to stern or the exact sketch and dimension of the flag behind the number and the form of the white space of the same number.
To notice that in a second time Idoni makes to mount on the sides three air intakes on the style of those mounted on on 39' blue but that they slightly differ in positioning and form.

We now analyze the 39' blue.
To notice the takings of air scopes above the engines hatch different from those of 39' red but very similar to those of the Popeyes. To notice the exit of air to stern, also it different from that of the Bounty/Fayva or the flag that it waves as on 39' red but is of different form slightly as like the white bottom of the race number without the two rounded off angles and then the presence of two leaks(?) to the sides of the cockpit.
