I still returned in the darkened room for a small detail.
Probably the two 39',the white Popeyes and the blue Halter are equal in everything...or almost.
It's a matter of millimeters.
The position of the two buttons that to me seem to be two leaks to the front sides of the cockpit they are slightly different between the two boats.
I attach the photos for better understanding what I want to say.
Another thing allows me very perplexed;
The Halter in 1982 gave the blue 39' to Copeland that he re paints completely the boat of white and he also changes the cockpit bolster that become of red color from originary silver.
Then Meynard for Key West in November re paints exactly as the boat was originally,included stickers,names of the crews(then covered with a white sticker) etc., and he also puts again the original bolster in silver but then in very provisional way he applies the name Fayva Shoes...does it have a sense everything this?
To me no.
The white Popeyes probably was the third phantomatic 39' bubbledeck,new built for Copeland.
To be absent today is the blue 39'.

I Just Called Mark McManus.... ONLY 2 BUBBLEDECKS WERE BUILT. There was supposed to be a third, But it was never made. Great Observations Black Tornado. One thing to consider... My Father although raced the red Boat Once, tested before and after the race with it. He made several changes to airflow changing the scoops, and air intakes style and location. Meynard made the boat into a pleasure boat, and probably took off the scoops and had some kind of a mat back there to lay on. Hope this info Clarified anything about these boats. Now someone go and buy it up before it sits in another wharehouse for another 20 years lol.

Many Thanks for the appointment to find the true on this kind of boats, that makes us discuss despite the scarce weight that they had in the history of the offshore.
A model stays however that to someone as me and Nigel it creates interest and a certain charm.
I hope a lot that who will purchase the two samples can restore them as they were originally and keeps on preserving them in the way that they deserve them as all the old "horses" racer as them.

Billy`s Boats
I know it`s not a bubbledeck,but I will still ask the question.Of all Billy`s boats one was Hustler III (1972).Was this a 27ft Magnum or Maritime (ex-Mona Lou II).
