Nice to see that that Kal Kustom was the World Champ Garcia's Arneson Special in 1983 and Spergel's Surgin in 1984.
Nigel can tell more about this.

It was Eddie Trotta's boat before that. ( watch the biker build off on Discovery Channel)

Howard purchased it from the Fed's. It was part of his two year championship run with two different boats.

Can't remember what Trotta called the boat.

Lineage:

Trotta
Arneson
Spergal
Kosker (Kal Custom) then Jack Davidson was going to splash the bottom and make a big cat.

Yep. Tortta had a little problem.

The Federal Government leased the boat to Howard and then sold the boat to him.

The thing was cut up and put into a dumpster years ago. It was sitting outside Sanger Boats and they were going to splash it but never did so it was scrapped.

I LOVE San Francisco! But as someone who's only ever been to the saltwater of the southeast I learned something there. The water is COLD! These pictures give you that COLD - FOGGY feeling, very REALISTIC. Great photos!

With all of Cali's environmental restrictions, can such a race be held anymore?
