I looked at the boat in person a few months ago. There's a thread about it in the classic section with some good input from Brownie and 7xchamp. Couldn't find it real quick though.

It's a LOT of boat, that's for sure! But you'd have to have DEEP pockets to bring her back to life.

Chris, you're a funny dude! You must have been talking to my marine mechanic, he seems to think I'm loaded too!

I think you'd have to have Tom Gentry deep pockets to bring her back. You should have seen it... It's a monster (yes, that's what she said). The thing looks like the USS Ronald Regan. Flight deck and all! I think you could land a helicopter on it.

It's really an amazing boat, but sadly I don't see any future for her beyond the scrap yard. Anyone that has the cash to resurrect the old girl already has their turbine powered 46 Skater and anyone who's crazy enough to do it would probably try to stick 6 outboards on the back and put in a galley.

Someday, we'll miss all these old race boats when there gone.

ds, is it worth getting, cleaning up cosmetically, and putting in the back yard for the kids to pretend play with/dream about??

Rob, I live in California... My whole lot is probably half the size of the boat. It wouldn't fit in my back yard!

It only took five-thousand horsepower to make it go 150.

I don't think 1200 Sterlings would get it up on plane.

It was a cool time back then- quad-engined Superboat dinosaurs.

My prediction- the only time that boat will ever see water again is if they pass a pond on the way to the salvage yard.
