That is definitly my era in racing, the old # 3`s and two blade props. I would venture to say it was either a 32` Cary or cig. It looks like a Mercury rig job from the exhaust rings that had the water outlets at the bottom of the rings. Used the old log exhausts with stainless water jacketed tail pipes, I am sure also it is a staggered engine boat. Could be a peter Rothchild boat or Jimmie Pfhlueger boat, they were the original big name guys in that era. Funny the trailer was a Certified, which was early Jerry Rossi days. It sure would be a great find if that boat was still as pictured and available.

Chuck Daigh was across the way from us and he told me about a cig and once opon a time. It might be the one Peter Rothchild had... Any pics or a boat number?

none
The curved of the deck it makes to think about a 32' (Cary or Cig).
The white paint and the red strip to the Thunderballs of Rotschild.

WOW Chuck Daigh Now that`s really a name from the past, I worked with him briefly when I was involved with Gentry doing some of the first Turbo motors, best guy was Dunsmore who Gentry finally partnered with. And yes at the time Chuck Daigh was the offshore guru of the West coast.

I think Jerry either worked for Certified or owned it, it was the predessor to Target. I was one of the first to work with Jerry to build a custom trick trailer. The trailer was for the 1976 35` Cig. American Eagle That I built and raced for Tom, it was built solely for the UIM world championships in Europe which we won. I made Rossi turn the I beams around so that the smooth side was out, we put the nice rounded fenders on, and instead of the trailer being squared off in the front I made him taper to follow the lines of the boat, same as all the trailers of today. The early Certified could have been Mobile home sub frames. I also made him put in the sealed lights with grommets, which meant he had to cut holes in the I beams instead of just screwing some lights on. Bobby Beich and I did the wiring, so it was hidden and water tight, not that we ever dunked the trailers back then, the boats were always hoisted in.And finally we painted the trailer with Imron, another first, clear coated etc. every trailer after that was built the same way with a hefty price tag to go along. Anyway a little story about how trailers transitioned into the MYCO`s of today.

Hi Richy
I'm getting hooked on this site, really interesting stuff. Do you ever hear from Bobby? I worked with him for about 2 years in Hawaii, Smiling Bobby is how I remember him.
