What a ton of affordable fun. I ran around with a 22 Scarab (same power), and each boat had advantages based on the conditions. It would be awesome to run a bunch of "box-stock" 24x7's with 250's en masse. This is definitely a time who's idea has come!
Good luck, hope I get a chance to play.

Chris.....the difference here is that both the 24 and the 28 are 8 foot beam boats. The 28 is actually the same design that Don used with outboards when he won his world championship in '67.
It is the same design that Michael Aronow and Knocky trailered all over Europe that summer to the different race sites to gain the points for the championship. That is one of the reasons Michael is so excited about this and his chance to be involved.....many great memories.

Good luck with this concept Charlie.
It makes a LOT more sense than running around with an overpowered boat and a GPS "limiter" in bracket racing.
It seems to be an affordable, competitive, and FUN approach...not to mention the fact that spare parts and repair work should be readily and reasonably available.

Thanks Rich.....we are getting feedback through the banana boat site of just exactly what we thought.
We have 3 e-mails asking about a partnership in one of these boats. We have a situation with two guys that want to split the cost of the boat and the racing....who would get the keeper trophy?
At the beginnng of the season, they could name one person or the other or ask for a second trophy for the second person....we could just have another keeper made up for number 2.
Splitting the cost of this HORBA class is the right way to go.....with the residual value the Honda boats have kept, the cost of a few years of fun could be very minimal...not to mention some reliable racing with the state of modern outboards....Evinrude says no break in..just run them for 300 hours....I am sure the other makers are just as dependable too.

Yes...we hope to be able to do our thing on Saturday which is usually a non-race day....that way we won't interfere with any of the other groups.
BTW, we have rec'd much support from the other racing organizations who have said that these boats would be welcome in P-5 or P-4 class if they wanted to race on other dates than what HORBA will have.....we also encourage this....UNITED WE RACE.

Charlie,
Thanks for the clarification on the boat specs. What speeds do you see the 24's running, around 60, maybe? I think that's plenty of fun for an entry level class. Do you have a list of the tech/safety requirements, or is it too early for that question?
Thanks.

Is the Miami-KW race still happening? Haven't heard anything about it, just months away now.

What are the other classes going to be? Is there any room for my 27' Magnum?
