Your comment that the black boat was ex-Copper Kettle makes sense.I haven`t got a pic of Satisfaction either.
Marco, did you get my `e` mail the other day re the CUV cat info for 1999?
FF,I have just answered to your email on CUV cats.

About the Bertram Satisfaction I think to have seen it shortly in a video but I must remember in what.
However when that Bertram then it became Flap Jack it was 1980 and all the images I believe must be reported only to that year.

It's great to see that shot of Tosti Asti. That's the last Slingshot run by Peter Dean in Australia, before he moved himself and it to the States in 1982. The boat was a cracker..a self built 44 special , based around a stretched 35 Cigarette.
Peter was a multiple Australian champion and a legend of the sport here. Anyone know where the boat is now? I believe Peter owned a prop business in Georgia at some point.

Marty,
I agree the "Outrageous" Sutphens were my all time favorite race boats.I remember they first had a 30ft Sutphen...and then the 33ft Sutphen, which became the name for that particular model.I had a picture of the beautiful tractor trailer tow vehicle and boat on the wall of my room when I was a kid.

Default Black Bertram

Black Tornado mentions that this raced only in 1980,but my records indicate he raced a Bertram in 1982 in Bacardi,Capstran and Spirit of Detroit before handing his active cat over to Aoki in the Benihana race. Now this throws up another can of worms. In the 1982 key west race Quam raced a Active cat called Benihana (repaired one would think). This was talked about in the Active post a while ago. This thread I thought contained photos from 1982 key west,so does that mean Quam did not race the Active cat Benihana, but the black Bertram. There was no key west race in 1980.Back to that darkened room BT.

Immediately covered the can Flying Fish.
All it took is observing the white and red cat that appears behind the Flap Jack Bertram that has put TxHawk in the post #2 to be the Rampage. I don't know if the photo has been taken to Key West but it is of the 1982.
However Flying you have quoted the competition in Detroit 1982 with Quam on Bertram but in your post #21 in the thread -Active cats:some questions -you have said that for Detroit you have photo of Quam on the ex Kaama cat.

Default 1982 Flapjack

The ex-kaama cat was used in 82 Detroit.I hadn`t got round to amending the result sheet, which leaves Bacardi & Capstran as the Bertram races, with Key West in doubt. All these races had Rampage racing. If the pic of the Black Bertram was Key West I need to make a correction, but it looks like the Black Bertram was used in 82 as well as 1980,although I have yet to unearth a pic of it doing just that.Trouble is, to obtain this info in UK,you relied on just one U.S. magazine and the odd video to cover these events.and maybe an occasional report in a UK comic.
