I have a late 70's 24 ft. offshore single engine boat and I am trying to confirm year and make. Also any history on this boat. The serial number is PDG23243177D.I assume the 77 is the production date but do not know for sure.Does anyone know the breakdown of the complete serial number .

Just a guess, P&D perhaps? I believe they were a derivative of the Pantera, Excalibur, etc. They had sub-7' beams where the Cig. has an 8' beam if I'm not mistaken. Charlie will know.

The letters that you refer to are the letters that are designated by the Coast Guard to identify builders.....as stated before, the Cigarette letters are CRT....so not knowing for sure, but taking a guess, I would think that your boat is probably a P&D made boat.
There is a history of the 24 on the banana site...www.bananaboatco.com
Go to products, then click on 24 then scroll down and click history of 24. It basically tells of a special boat that Don and Carl Kiekhaefer made for Doc Magoon 24 by 7 with outboards. Magoon didn't like it so they made a new one with 24 by 8. He liked it so much Don made it part of the Cigarette lineup. Once Don released the 7 foot molds, everyone made a splash of them and you can see many builders made the same model.
They have been made for many years and are good boats.

24 foot cig.
Thanks guys for the info. This gives some clues to its true identity.I have been a partner for about 12 years on this boat and a few boats before this one and we are in the process of a complete rebuild on it.I am just retired and have arrived in Key Largo for 5 weeks before I get back home(ontario canada)to resume the project.First thing is to verify that serial number. Thanks again guys.
