Jesse james 48 foot conquest raced what years?

I am trying to find out what year the Jesse James 48 foot Conquest raced?

I think it was 1989, but was that the only year? Why would they build a boat and race it in only 3 or 4 races...

The boat did not fall apart, it was probably the best boat ever built at that time...

It raced 89 80 something like that and I believe that the engine program was the undoing of that program but I could be wrong again you need to talk to Rich Luhrs, T2x

It raced only part of one year....... 1989....The last year of the true "World's" in Atlantic City. The Batten engines were absolute JUNK..... and could not last for more than a few minutes when putting out any kind of HP....... After drastic detuning (and a few million dollars) the boat finally made the race course. Sad thing is, if the boat simply had Merc's 1000 SC's it would have been the dominant boat of its time. It probably had more safety and technological advances built in than any other hull in the history of the sport and was conceived as a memorial to Mark Lavin and a showcase of the Lavin Foundation safety standards. In truth by the time the boat actually hit the water Marce and Chris Lavin's passion for the sport had wained.

The crack about the boat falling apart wasn't funny.....nor accurate in the least...... I understand that the hull stiil exists, basically intact, to this day....

Last I heard it was in Arizona in a warehouse. It is owned by some Japanese people who have been neglecting it for many years..... It lay outdoors in California for probably 10+ years and was stripped of drives, transmissions, safety gear, interior...etc.......
