Perhaps it is the same Scarab but the two photos they show two different liveries, therefore two versions of the same boat or two Scarab.
That of the post 1 are alike to what raced in Mar Del Plata 78.

I sent Littlenige some more pictures, and they show the Hawaii boat before being rigged. Back then it was one of the nicest paint jobs I'd ever seen. I also have a few of us out on Nora"S eagle in Hawaii. and thats about it, we were always too busy to take picture and everything was last minute.

From miles away in a speeding helicopter or from up in a tree on land..........

I can tell a CUV from a Cougar, a Molinari from a Schultz, a Raveau from a Speedliner, a Butz from a Sidson, a Powercat from a Magnolia, an MTI from a Skater, a Buzzi from a Brownie, a Donzi from a Formula, a Magnum from a Manta, a Sutphen from a Velocity, even a Sea Ray from a Bayliner......etc, etc.....

But how the h*ll do you tell a Scarab from a Cigarette??????

Rich, you have to go inside and look at the bulkheads, Larry Smith always uses the round cut out, where Cig uses squares. You can see in the pic that this is clearly a LS Scarab because of the bulkheads.

There were different external things that make us distinguish a Scarab from a Cigarette immediately as for instance the difference in the sides.
And from the photo oif the wrecked nose boat you can be recognized well that it is a Scarab.
But if yours were an irony on the similarity of the two hulls indeed they are the same.

That second pic Nige is the one we have been waiting for, to confirm the B & W pic I posted is the same boat,and of course Richie`s history rubber stamping it.So two scarabs 1978-80 (American Eagle) and 1982 - 83 (Hawaii).Another boat sorted..Next thread will be who had the most boats in their stable,with Gentry a front runner.Still haven`t come to terms with that livery in post 1 as being Hawaii.looks more like copy of Aoki`s 35ft Benihana,livery wise.What`s the tie up between Little Nige`s pics and post 1 pic.

Have just viewed Benihana 1980 DVD,and the livery is same as Mar del Plata 1978.No sign of stripes on deck,whats left of it,so the pic in post 1 is still a mystery,now Nige has posted his Hawaii pics.
