Very interesting pics tms1155!
Of not good quality but with exact historical position-even if it seems that that year the Hennessy GP was at Atlantic City and not at Point Pleasant.
I'm waiting for the others!

Great pix. I think actually this was the Atlantic City race we used to run on a wednesday. The reason I say that is the picture of the Martini boat there is when I ran the boat with Bonomi as the race counted for UIM points, we raced Italy Sat. Atlantic city Wed. and France Sat. was always my most hectic week. Another interesting tid bit, if you enlarge the cockpit shot of Dry Martini you will see the first Zero Effort controls ever built, designed and built by me and Carl Kiekhaefer. Long story about why I wanted that type of control, what they replaced , and how they helped in racing and how they evolved to todays controls.

Great Pictures

Great pics. They bring back a lot of childhood memories. Hennesy Grand Prix week at the Kings Grant Inn was always the highlight of my summer. It became the Benihana Grand Prix in 1976 (I think) The picture of "the little cigarette" is definetly in Point Pleasant. You can see Petersons sign in the background. The picture of the Busch Sutphen is at least 1978 vintage.

The Hennessy, and Benihana races were ALWAYS held on a WEDNESDAY - Talk to Bill Wishnick - he knew in July that they would not have to compete with Tennis or any other major sport for the centerfold of the Daily News in NYC - smart promotion for sure - some later races - years later were held on the weekend - however, remember the Blue Angels, Bud Clydales, and the huge crowds the races would draw ? People did not care where they went or who won, it was the atmosphere - The guy to thank is Bill Wishnick - he put out his own money to be sure the events were a success - and they certainly were !
