I have the engine out of it now, have the K plane and trim motors working good. I found out what knocked the ends off the plugs in #7 and #8. A piece of the #7 intake valve cracked off and went into #8 and #5. Nothing that a new set of pistons and a valve job wont cure.

All of the vinyl cleaned up surprisingly good. Magic Eraser works better than anything I have ever seen. Try it.

Drained about a gallon of water out of the fuel tank and re-sealed the sending unit.

Bearing in the rear of the tail housing was bad. Replaced that too.

In the interest of saving a few bucks in the short run, I'm switching all the Mercruiser stuff over to a running 454 that I have in the garage. I'll rebuild the 420 later. The engine I'm putting in is no slouch, so it should be fun.

I hope to have it back on the water in a few weeks.

Cool Hondo. Remember your Lake Norman neighbor when you need some one for ballast on the test rides!!

Default Put it in the water for the first time tonight....

Tonight I put it in the water for the first time. Everything worked good, just need to build a serious engine for it this winter.

I need some better exhausts immediately if anyone has some decent used ones laying around.

Great Job! Love to see some interior pics....I found a 86 Scarab Panther last year that I'm doing the same with.
