Default Complete 1989 PROA OFFSHORE Race #1

had to edit it down and split into 3 parts, parts 1 and 2 are already up, having trouble uploading third part however.
This was one of the milder races being only 3-6ft seas,
most the PROA races were in 4-8ft seas!
Race was 5 laps , approx 70 miles long.
1989 Puerto Rico Offshore Association powerboat race.
Boats represented include Scarab, Carrera , Scorpion, Coyote , Nova , and many other old shcool raceboats.
As a side note the usual attendance for these races back then was around 25,000 spectators both on water and on land.
If you can identify any of the boats racing I have not listed please let me know what they are,Thanks!

El Nuevo Dia = Carrera
El Mundo = Carrera
Sorpion = Scorpion
Coca Cola = P&D
Banco De Ponce = Coyote
Tequila = Wide body 36' cig
Top Gun = Superboat maybe?

IMPORTANT NOTE:Commentary is in spanish as this was held in Puerto Rico.

As per my comment on part 1 on YT, the Tequila hull is a wide body 36' cig. Great vids - thanks!

Very nice, brought back very good old memories, coca cola was a P & D hull, not a Scarab. What other races are you planning to upload. Tequila boat was awesome, very good boat prior to the big bucks, hot shot Puerto Rico offshore era.

I have two more PROA races, couple years newer, the CocaCola boat in the newer races is another 36 Carrera, there are a couple more 30 Carreras, some Cats that dont fare too well in the big seas, one race the seas grew to 6+ft and they shortened the race down to around 50miles long.

As for the movies it just takes me a long time to digitize the vhs tapes and then make them fit in the time limits of youtube. They are so old and taped off broadcast tv quality has to be cleaned up a lot to be viewable.
But I will before end of year,Im sure we will have some bitter cold days with nothing else to do,LOL..
