Default Start rebuild on Rare 29-9 Magnum only one left

As most of you know I have had the 29-9 Magnum,i of 5 built ...only one left which came out of Ohio,Thumper Too 73-77,and Head Hunter 78-79.It went to the west coast and stayed in Palm Desert for the past 30 years. Brought it Illinois, and now it is in Naples Fl. with Roger Munn who is rebuilding the original 427 raised deck stroked to 482 .It has a 4.25 bore & 4.25 stroke, and is 60 over.It originally had dual Holley's and then they went to fuel injection. We will bring it back to a single dominator, and bow tie heads.Have found a new 427 tall deck manifold, and the correct Thunderbolt ignition. If things go well will see it run next week in Florida.

I will finishing stripping hardware and original gages which will be rebuilt and plan on painting it Tangerine and white, original colors, this fall.We need to fabricate a new hatch, and re do all original hardware.Plan on keeping original steering, crash box and # 3 drives and then bring back to Illinois to do the rigging with Brian. Hopefully a year from now it will be ready for it's first test ride. Bud

Default No Kinseler

When they pilfered the top end at Marina Del Ray,Kinsler and hatch went with who ever took them. Kinsler set up would cost $3,000 and it was added at a later date...it does requires more work to keep it running. Bud

Hey Vinyl, I remember seeing a 29-30 Magnum for sale a few years back, it had a turbine engine up front of the cockpit. totally redone, the guy was aking $249,000. Did you ever see that boat before? The guy advertised it as a Magnum, i believe i saw it on boattrader.

Bud,

Glad to see that you have moved forward with this project!

FWIW, my unsolicited thoughts . .. .
The cost of the Kinsler FI pales in comparison to the investment into this boat . . I really think you need to re-evaluate that decision vs final value of such a rare boat!

There are many people running Kinsler stuff, my engine shop works with it regularly for numerous apps and used to build offshore engines.

The only Magnum like that I knew of had a V12 Allison up front, I only saw it once on Lake St Clair in the early 90's. I heard he had around 300k in her.
