Default Showers..without a cloud in the sky???

Okay, I'm new to this whole Boating thing.. Green would be an Understatement. Can someone tell me in laymans/newbie terms what "drive showers" are for and what type of drive would benefit from one and why?? It sounds preventative..a Big Plus in my book.. I just haven't got a clue what they are??

They are pretty much a metal tube that has water forced through it and it spills it all over the top of the drive. They help reduce heat in the stern drive.

So unless I was spinning the drive at extremely High rpms or running it under extreme loads, my 3 qts. Of Gear Lube plus the water being pulled through to cool the Motor it doesn't need any external cooling. Gotcha. Thanks!
