The 28' Seahawk is a popped 27' Signature with protracted chines. The boat required a 2 piece mold. Seahawk started out as Impulse Marine, located just West of the MIA airport. I owned Sal's first 28,' The P-68 Seahawk. It was one of the first out of the mold and was very heavy. Sal built another - a black one called Shogun but ended up giving his P-68 reg to Alberto, the Seahawk rigger when he built the first 31, the famous baby blue boat, M-17. The boat in the ad originally had Johnson 235's on it. The cockpit was done in a tacky blue 'plastic' carpet with teak trim. I'm sure it's been ripped out by now. If I recall, this was the first boat in a pleasure version of the 28. Most of the boats coming out at that time were real heavy.

I believe there was a M-17 [M-1] Sea Hawk & a S-17 Sea Hawk racing @ the 1981 Wyandotte Detroit River race.

I'm pretty sure the 31's came in 82. Sal in the Modified Boat, Tabby in the Sport Class Boat. My 28' was a 79 and Shogun was an 81. The Modified boat won the National Championship in 82 amid a huge cheating scandal with the OPBRA, Gail Lanham and the Bacardi race. Country Boys, M-72, should have won that year.

There are still a number of serious boaters who love them, myself included. The 4.0 OMC V8 can make some serious hp for reasonable money.

Very nice looking boat by the by....... are you sure those engines are 275hp, I would have thought with the offshore mids that they were 300's????

Wich Seahawk sank in a race up north ? Jay and Willy were on the boat looked like S-17,i believe they salvaged the boat and rebuilt it. I have seen an old baby blue seahawk in Miami three man boot fully rigged but in original old condition but they will not sell. The boat is in Willys old neighborhood near old midway mall ! Mid ocean should know the area sounds like your old school Miami.
