Australian Magnum 28 footers?
Hi guys ,do we know what ended up happening to the various boats that raced down-under?
Including Peter Deans magnum that ran 2x 475 hp Merc's or
The single engine boats,Camstar (Midstar?) and one other was it Taurus.
In the fine book Searace, there is local stories/race rsults.
Then boats just seem to vanish around the early 80s.

28' Delta Marine/ Don Arnow Offshore sport boat/Magnum
I'd like to see some photos of these boats. I have a 28' Delta Marine (Seattle) with twin 300HP/TRS that was built from a Magnum Mold.

Rob, Dean's boat became Swoosh V run by a guy in Sydney for few years in the mid 70s.
Midstar (Barry McMillan) became Taurus (Doug Bricker) then Camstar (Brian Fisher). Whiplash (Brian Stevens) was Midstar's twin. It then became Courage (Geoff Dicieri) then Magnum Force (Tony Low). All of them became cruisers I belive.
Dean's 28 was an imported Magnum. Whiplash and Midstar were always called Cigarette 28s and I think Peter Dean had the mould. Not sure if it was an official mould!

Interesting stuff. Peter Dean did build a load of Cigarette boats in Australia and some he bought back to the US to race. I'd have thought that this must have been with Don Aronow's blessing??

Thanks Pete ,I can remember you posting this ...now once before.
Do you think Swoosh V was converted back to a single Merc,so as it could run class 2,as by then there were far quicker boats on the scene?
The old Camstar, would be a nice boat to find and restore,as it ran one only Merc, restore and put in a "crate motor' in.
