New Cobalt 302 w/496HO's
I'm brand new to this board and was excited to see the fantastic content. I've been looking for a boating board for quite some time. I just ordered a Cobalt 302 loaded with 496 HO's with Captain Call exhaust. I couldn't be more excited to get her. It looks like a May delivery.
Does anybody have any idea of what she'll run at WOT. Cobalt's cliaming around 65mph. What do you guys think?

I'll bet you get all of the 65 and more, my 206 is about 5 mph faster than the deal said it would be.
Your boat sounds like a great boat, I can't wait to hear what your results are! Welcome to the board.

Congratulations again!
Your new boat weighs in at 10,000 LBS dry, and has a 9'8" beam. With 6.2's, Boat Test reported a top speed of 52.9MPH with this boat. 210 extra horsepower is not going to add 13 MPH to your top end. You may see 60-61.

Makes sense. I've decided not to paint the bottom and ordered Captain Call exhaust. Factory clained 64mph in their tests w/B3's. They also say CC will add up to 3 mph when open. We'll see. Anything over 60, and I'm cool.

60mph should probably be about it with a light load. Captain's call will NOT add 3mph, it just adds noise, but it sure sounds nice.
Enjoy your boat.

Thanks man. Out of curiousity, do you think openning up the exhaust add anything in the way of HP? It sure does on my Ferrari.

CPI, I had a Cobalt 23LS that I purchased new in 2000. When I would pop the cork, I gained absolutely Zero MPH. The captains call did sound great, but at the stock level of engine, it's my opinion that there is no performance gain. Maybe Cobalt did see 64 MPH, but light fuel and one person onboard. The difference between 60 and 64 isn't going to ruin your day..you bought a Cobalt for the luxury AND performance! Plus, I don't think you want to be hitting higher speeds with the open bow!

I odered my 206 with a 350 magnum and captains call.
The dealer told me the boat would do about 55 mph but after break in I find it runs 59 - 60 on GPS depending on the day and the load. I figured the dealer went conservive with the numbers so as to not disappoint. That's why I thought CPIGUY would see more speed than the dealer suggested.
Like you guys I bought the captains call for the sound, but I see a 2 mph increase with the CC open.
