Default We need to have a meeting.

Id like a little feed back on times for a meeting, We need to get together to plan a run, we need to do some homework on when other runs that may interfere with attendance as well as other events.

Then we need to decide where the run wil take place and what it will include.

I am thinking a mid week meeting would be in order.

As long as I know a week or so in advance I can take a day off from work if we are doing a mid-week thing.

my opinion is plan something 4 weeks out and hold that date. members will have to plan accordingly. during the week is preferable as no one generally makes big plans during the work week. weekends are tough especially for those with kids, etc.

you schedule it and ill be there.

During the week is problematic for me.

Honestly, why not just hold it here electronically. Throw the items on your agenda up for discussion and lets just talk about it right here.

BTW, I thought you looked into doing a run and you found the cost for the insurance to be too costly. What's changed?

Were gonna sell abunch of SHEET or were gonna have a special assesment on members to get up the funds!

so START SELLING SOME STUFF! Doesnt anyone you know have a freakin Birthday buy them some CPBA stuff and tell them to LIKE IT!

When I say during the week I mean a week night at like 7 or 8 PM. I dont want to wait 4 weeks either I am talking about 1 or 2 weeks away max.

The s[ecial assesment if needed would bascially be a entrance fee that youd pay NOW. That way we could pay for everything needed for the event. Hopefully. hopefully we could attract enough people to this run to then replenish the funds in the club account.

Jeff,
I dont know what kind of coin we're talking about here for the insurance, but if it's cost prohibitive (and I suspect it is given the number of members), there's always the option of organizing something less formal OUTSIDE the club.

agreed. i dont know whom you have talked to but like i have mentioned in other threads, i take part in a dinghy poker run every year and no insurance or permits are required. its $25 a hand and $10 for buffet at the end of the day.

not sure why we couldnt put something like this together.

While I think it's horse-shat, I understand in the litigious world we live in that if something were to happen during a club event, that the club could be held responsible. I'm not saying it's right, just that I can see how the club could be sued or held responsible. In a perfect world, one would think everybody's individual insurance should be sufficient, but I would talk with an insurance specialist and a lawyer before assuming anything.

My guess is the club would likely be exposed and the cost of insurance would likely be outrageous, which seems crazy and why I suggest organizing potentially dangerous events (high speed poker runs or GTG's) outside of the club.

Using this same logic, any type of club related GTG could leave the club open to some exposure should something happen during any club event (such as last month's GTG). I'm not saying I agree with this logic, but I sadly think this is the world we live in.

Honestly, this is why I wrote my devil's advocate response in this thread...

You are absolutely correct Scot that is why the club need insurance for events. The cost is not really prohibitive, And I have spoken with many specialists on the topic.

Its just something that comes with the territory.

A really good event needs to be put on well or you might as well dump the whole thing, and we have to decide if we want to be serious about this or not.

apparently Moses is counting Ph uck in Pennies or something all of a sudden. Maybe he should be the treasurer?

I knew it spelled trouble when he didnt show up for the GTG.LOL

Seriously guys whats a $100 to $125 bucks to be in an event? Are we that POV these days?

I didnt see anyone missing the pavillion run for that amount of GING a ling but for your own club your POV.

Do you FEEL CHEAP!
