Yesterday the engine builder had the first start up. It went out really well Now we are waiting for some time at the dyno shop. After dyno the engine builder will do the finishing such as milling out some in the pulley plate etc.

Sorry for my bad fotage...

Question

Mange:

I am curious about the HPS supercharger? It looks like all the fuel is injected at the ports at the head and none into the supercharger itself? How do this supercharger cool or lubricate the rotors? Do they get good hours with this unit or does it have short service intervals? Most of the screw type supercharger systems here in the US inject fuel into the supercharger intake stream. Just curious.

Nice build and looks like great results!

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

I dont know that blower but seems like a lysholm style blower like a Kenne Bell etc. Most are Teflon coated and I am sure more advanced now its been a few years since I used one. I dont think whipple or the new merc efi motors run any fuel in to chargers. Is that a screw type blower or mesh type like a lysholm?

Hi Ray,

Thanks for your kind words!

This is a modefied B&M420 intake with places for the injectors in the ports. The gear case in the front of the charger is a oil wet sump. Watercooling for the barings + gears. Then the intake air cooling the rotors. At idle we have a bypass to let the air in for cooling the rotors. We had the same set up but with a 2.6L screw and it works very well. I do not know how many hours and it was still like new after a couple of seasons.

Thanks
Mange

You are correct all the way!! Lysholm is the base tech from the very beginning. Kenne Bell = HPS!

Great chargers!

Thanks
Mange
