Default Exhaust Y-tube Jerry rig

When I replaced the stock exhaust manifold and riser on my 502 I eliminated my captains choice, but left the y-tube going to the Bravo 1 outdrive. I plan to refresh/upgrade the engine next year and thought I'd take out the y-tube then. I put a plumbers cap on it for the interim, but I cant stop it from leaking no matter how much I tighten the clamp. Any suggestions for a quick fix to stop the leak til I pull the engine will be really appreciated... Thanks

I did the same thing and found mine leaking this past weekend. It is leaking from the slot in the y pipe for the flappers. I coated it with rtv silicone and it didnt seem like it was leaking the rest of the weekend

My y-tube has been completely disconnected from the exhaust. I put what is called a "pipe cap" by plumbers over both openings in the y-tube where it used to connect to the diverters(flaps). I can see it leaking from the cap. Maybe some rtv silicone will stop my leak as well... thanks!

I used these, just insert them in a short piece (about 5 inches) of hose tighten clamps and you are done. They will not leak.

in the past i have takin the old bellows and with acitone and a scuff pad cleaned up the inside to get rid of all the oils..take a picec of wax paper, set them on the wax paper and fill them about 1'' thixk with superfast 5200..when it cures lightly clamp the end and install them with another bead of 5200 and clamp them..the only way to get them off is to cut them off.

E. Date & mrfixxall...thanks for the input! I think I'll try the bellows/5200 mod since I'm going to be pulling the engine and removing the y-tube next year.
