Did a search came up empty handed. How do you set the valve lash on a 96 502 MAG EFI? cold set them till you cant spin the push rods with your fingers or are these not adjustable?

P.S. almost forgot the motor has aftermarket rocker arms, I think they are Comp Magnums.

If they are adjustable (stock are not), then tighten till there is no lash (moving up and down is better than spinning) plus 3/4 turn.

Yep, I have heard 1/2 turn all the way up to 1 full turn. I set mine at about 5/8, and I have a couple of clatterers, so you are probably spot on saying 3/4 turn.

gen 6 502 is non adjustible in stock form.

Guess Only way to know is to tear into her. Is there any intake or head bolts that need sealant put on them due to them hitting a water jacket? First BBC project everything else has been SBC.

That's correct. If it's got a stamped steel rocker, then it's non-adjustable.

EDIT: Never mind... Just saw your post that says it has a Comp rocker. Most likely adjustable in that case.

I believe 502 has blind head bolt holes in the block, so sealant is not needed. 454 has bolt holes that extend into water jackets, so sealant is needed for these.

A couple of the intake bolts extend into the lifter valley and will need sealant. Play it safe and just put the sealant on all of them.

If you pull the heads you should buy new bolts and they should have a small amount of pipe sealant on them. All intakes should also have a small amount of sealant on them.
