    Drives

Wanting to clean up my drives. They have corrosion on them from previous owner. Is it ok to sand blast or media blast the cases or is there another way to get the corrosion off? Is there a filler the will bond to the aluminum and stay? What is a good paint? My boat is a 79' I plan on wiring it up with one of those kits that will help fight the corrosion. Any help Thanks

those are TRS's. 33 years old and getting hard to find. i would not blast them, you don't know how thin they may be in spots.

sand or glass beads are harsh,i would look into a ground up wall nut shell, harbor freight sells it and thats what i use, takes off the corrosion and doen not hure the alunimum,,after that go to your local auto body supply shop and ask for a filler called all metal, its made from alunimum fibers,it sands real easy and you can finsl sand it with 280 grit then prime it with ppg dp 90 epoxy primer then paint it with pitch black imron paint..
