Default New Motors and new drives

Bought a 37'5" Chriscraft Stinger OS was Missing/ Blown Basicly everything in the engine compartment, ( Ugg Project) Motors Blown and siezed up grabed all i could off them from Heads up
Exhaust, Carrbs, Valve Covers, Carbs 850s

1 was want to run 2 485 HP 454BBC, based on the parts i salvaged ,the Gimble housings thats are on it are Mercruiser and Im guessing they would have been Bravo 1 considering the choises from Factory were TRS or Bravos 1s, Im not looking for Super Speed 60-75 MPG or a tad better, Im reading a lot about transmissions and for the 2nd time Ive heard that a Standard Bravo 1 will not handle 485 HP. Is this true? If so what is best route to begin rebuilding the vessle, all the wireing is in place and it elec system is fine. is there a route to take for just standard Bolt in place packages, or is everything needing to be Special orde the drives i was leaning to after talking to some people was the Bravo 1 Geared 1.63? 1.65?

Bravo 1s will live a long life behind 485hp and up to 600 ish.but xr's will take about 700 if you don't beat on them

Bravo life is about the most controversial subject besides dually or single rear wheel trucks!

Bravo's in a 375 Stinger with 485HP=Fail. My buddy had a 375 Stinger, with 365HP mags. He managed to blow the bravos a few times. But, we also boat in rough lake Michigan water, and his were the early bravo 1's, which weren't as strong as the newer models.

With 365's stock except for Stainless marine manifolds, it was about a 55-60mph depending on the load. I personally wouldn't put 700HP thru a XR drive in a large boat. My buddy with a 42 Fountain and 525's is good for taking out a XR almost every season since 2007.

But to get back on topic, your boat could have had either TRS or Bravo's. Back then, if you got the 365 mags, you got the bravos. If you ordered the 420HP 454's, you got the TRS. With 475-500HP, the TRS will hold up ok. I'd say, if its setup for TRS, get some TRS drives. If its set up for bravo's, then get some bravos, just get some beefed up versions.

it is simple. if motors are bolted to the transoms, they are bravos. if there is a foot-long transmission behind motors, they are TRS...

Hmm there was about a foot between the transom and motors and the gimble housings were Mercruise, Guess this will be a better question for rick at CP performance, lol I do thank you all that answered so quickly,

So If i get this right Newer Stanadard Bravos geard around 1.63 or is it 1.65 are suppose to hold up would there be a cut off date say 1998 or 2002 , Most the lakes here in Texas are nice and im pretty damn sure not near as ruff Mich.

I rebuilt and repowered a Jet boat with 514 stroker but this seems to be getting into a bigger Fit,l for a DIYer

I have a 92 34 SCARAB with twin 650 HP engines in front of stock Bravo uppers and Imco -2 inch lowers with the original bravo gears and prop shaft. Just broke my first drive this fall and it was the aftermarket IMCO vertical shaft in the lower.
