How do I go about moving my boat a little farther forward on the trailer without taking if to the ramp? The boat was set on the trailer about a foot back on the trailer so the wrap could applied to the front of the bow but now I need to pull it back up. I'm wondering if I could just use the winch and pull it back up or would that damage it? It weighs about 5500 lbs the motors are not in it yet. The boat ramp is a 30min. Away so I don't know if I should try and pull it like this. Anyone got any ideas?

Wet the bunks then pull forward undertow and hit the brake hard. Should slide right up. Just don't get carried away with it...

LOL. That way is more fun but you could jack the keel and block it. Then jack the transom and slide the trailer back a little.

Do I have to have special jacks to do this?

Depends on the trailer. If you can block the keel up front and get two jacks in the back. With no weight you can use a few 2x4's and lift on the strakes. Just need to get it up a few inches to slide the trailer back. Easier than you might think.

You can lower the tongue all the way down then block up the transom. Either way is pretty easy.

Thats how I do it. Lower the tongue, block the rear on the chines at the transom, then raise the tongue jack and put a block under the keel. Lower the tongue jack, move the trailer back, reverse the steps to put the boat back on the trailer and you are good to go.
