makes me wonder if they were out of cam bearings the day they installed them so they just left the old ones in it.

Hell who knows. Simple, they dry fit the cam, the company thinks its Normal which it isn't. I do feel bad for the average joe that throws these things in his boat. It's deifinitley not a good thing.

I've seen cam bearing that were worse and the motor showed no effect.
I've also replaced much better then the ones you showed cause I thought they looked like crap.

You'd be wise to take it down to the block and start from scratch with hot tanking. My guess is these bearing were not changed from the core. That means the block was not cleaned properly. That means there is likely debris thoughout. Where did all that bearing material go? Even if they did "dry" run a new cam, where did all the bearing material missing from the cam bearings go? Thats a complete teardown in my mind. Or you will be having oil pressure problems quickly.
