Way to check fuel tank with tank still in boat..
Is there a way to pressurize the fuel tank to check for leaks or pin holes in a tank with the tank still buried in the boat??

Automotive smoke machine with die. Got to let it run a long time on a completely empty tank. That way if the floor of the tank is perforated it has time to saturate the foam. Then check it with a UV light.

I need to do the same thing...........haven't done it yet. Do have the fogging machine was going to use cooking oil. Figured you would see the smoke! Can't see tank at all so I assume UV light isn't an option

Basically if the tank is in a coffin encapsulated in foam with moisture present then replace the tank. The problem with tank floor perforation in an install like that is gas is lighter than water. That means that water will penetrate into the tank keeping the fuel from leaking out (until the water is gone). A parasitic water in fuel issue that has had all other means ruled out would also indicate a bad tank.

Well in my Baja, the only part of the tank I can see is when you take up the little access hole in the floor under the rear seat. So all I can really see is where the fuel sender is. So the smoke option is not going to work at all. How can I plug up the fuel filler, and vent tube?

No I do not have access to where the lines come into the tank. We forgot to cut a hole in the floor for that. My floor has been redone. So its been glassed together for strength.
