From my understanding, these duration numbers at 0.050 inch lift can be deceiving, especially with aggressive roller lobe profiles that get the valve up off the seat in a hurry. The conventional wisdom about duration and lobe separation are often based on the flat tappet cam profiles of years ago, which have to use less aggressive ramps to get the valve off the seat. If you compare the cams based on advertised duration and look at the total overlap, you may find that a cam with what first appears to be pretty mild specs can actually induce reversion.

The point in the exhaust stream where the water is introduced is a big factor, but the angle of drop is also important. Sometimes adding spacers or wedges under the risers is enough to give it enough drop to prevent borderline reversion.
