Regular porti potty and ones with the pumpout feature are still managed the same. The pumpout feature just means you won't have to pull the unit out of your boat and empty the holding tank section. It does mean you will have to locate a pump station.

No, you pump them both out the same way, at the pump out stations. Only difference is you can only hold a couple gal. of waste requiring you to pump out often, vs boats with larger dedicated holding tanks. Mine is a 30 gal tank and I go 2 weeks between emptying. Thats living on the boat 3 full days each weekend

You can also get a small macerator pump and pump it overboard so you're not going to the pump out station constantly. That's what I do sine nothing goes in there but pee and environmentally safe deodorizer....

you also hope nobody catches you unless 3 or 12 (don't remember which) miles offshore. don't do it tied to dock in no-current marina basin.

That is gross. I can't imagine anyone ever does it when people are around, but either way it only holds 6 gallons.
