Default Need a 101 on my boat's toilet

Hey guys,

My boat is about to be out of the shop and we're starting to get some decent weather again, so I'm pretty eager to get on the water. This year I think I've had enough of running the ladies to the marina every time they need a break during the winter. My Sunsation has a head that slides out from under the cockpit. I've never used it. Before I tell the ladies they can start using it, what do I need to know? Do I need any chemicals or is there anything else I need to check?

Oh, and one day it WILL BREAK and you'll be combing through whatever is left in the toilet so make it real clear to your guests what can go in there!!!!

Porti potti is a good idea. There are times when the swim step is not a great option. In many places the water police are handing out tickets for
"direct deposits" into the water. Most marine stores have porti potty deodorizers. It is usually a liquid and you add a few ounces to a quart or so
of water that sits in the bottom of the unit. You could also add a bit of deodorizer to the flushing water if you wanted. The special marine formula TP
breaks down better than standard TP. If you think people disappear fast when it comes time to wash your boat just wait until it's time to
empty the porti potty!

Go to walmart, buy a bottle of the porta poti stuff. The formula is on the bottle. Usually an ounce or two for a standard poti.

I don't know why people make such a big deal over these things. When it's time to empty it just dump the holding tank in a toilet or pump out station. DONE!

I sometimes hang out in places where you can't just piss over the side.

Mine looks just like a porta potti but has a pump out on the side. Does that make any difference on how you manage it?

The ones I've owned all separate into two parts. The bottom is the holding tank and the top is where you put fresh water. Just separate the holding tank from the top and dump it out. I think that's easier and less chance for error than trying to pump it out.

Use this

It is not if it breaks it is when it breaks. I can tell you I am far too familiar with the workings of a vacuflush head.
