Borgie, when I did my transom/stringer resto, the bilge was gelcoated white. Gelcoat is porous so I covered it with oil based marine enamel offwhite colour that doesn't show too bad if some oil spilled on that would stain gelcoat. The surface is shiny and easy to wipe it
clean.
white gel coat

enamel topcoat

Looks good. I need to do some touch up in my bildge as well. Can just the regular gloss white be used, or is there a major benefit to the "professional" series?

The professional series is a thicker "one coat" type vs the regular is reduced down and requires two coats IMO.

I used bilgekote about a month ago and it turned out great! Very easy to use and got it for 25 bucks on amazon at the time.

Anyone tried the Industrial Valspar gloss white? I see that comes in quart containers at Farm and Fleet.
