The impeller manufacturers recommend Glycerin Including some of the OEM engine manu's - PCM and Volvo when installing new impellers and to prevent wear not to have a dry start up. U can also use water base KY or a very very cheap mild dish soap. If using dish soap you need to start the engine up asap so it does not dry up causing a dry start up or attack the impeller materials. Do not use a harsh dish soap like dawn or other brands as they can dry up the rubber in the impeller if left sitting to long. keep in mind Dawn dish soap is very good at removing grease and oils, rubber products are made of an oil base.
