I'm putting together a 383 stroker and the block has no provision for mechanical fuel pump. I have an electric one and I have a wiring plan.
I am looking for ideas of best place to install the pump.
I'm thinking to bolt it to the block where a mechanical one would be. Any one have a reason for something else?

The Carter Electric Fuel Pump comes with a bracket that mounts in the spot where the Mechanical pump does.



If you use this set up I recommend that you Super Glue the electrical leads to the pump to prevent them from vibrating off the studs on the pump....trust me...it works.

I would think on the bulkhead roughly in front of where the fuel pump used to go.

electric pumps are made to push fuel and they don,t suck like a mechanical pump.try to mount it as close to the tank as you can also keeping it as low as possible.

Will agree that Carter electric fuel pump works fairly well for stock to mild engines.

Mike is right about electric fuel pumps they do alot better pushing fuel than pulling it.

You may have to take out the check valve at the fuel tank. It takes quite a bit of suction to overcome the spring, and as has been said, electric fuel pumps don't suck fuel very well.

That's about a $300~$350 "bonus" for someone that needs them...if nobody else takes them I'll be in line...keep them for spares 'cause I'm running two of them.
