Default Fix that faded embroidery with Sharpies

I wish I had some before photos. But last year I bought a 35 Fountain in really good shape but the "35" embroidery on the back of the head rest was extremely faded. So I decided to try some Sharpie permanent markers and what a HUGE difference. Start with the lighter colors first. And Take Your Time !!! Let the color flow from the pen to the stitching and slowly move the pen in the same direction as the stitching so you don't get the threading all out of sorts. It looks great. Just another tip from your uncle Mark.

I think they were also used in place of hair dye.

I did the same thing to my 27. worked great, but only lasted a few months then had to re-apply. still better than the alternative!

What CF said - it is a temporary fix. One of my daughters "decorated" my driver's seat with a blue permanent ball point pen one time (she was three, so I had to let her live ). By the end of the summer, Ol' Sol had almost completely faded it out of the seat. Solvents and cleaners wouldn't touch it.

I have done it several times. Marks-a-lot markers are more permanent if you can find them.

Use Sharpie Extreme (relatively new) markers. They use a pigmented ink that will withstand the UV exposure much better over straight dye based inks.
