Hi guys, Ok here's what I got going on. 355sbc, started running hot on the starboard side of the engine this season. I replaced the riser and it is still running just as hot. I can put my hand on the port riser and keep it there without issue while I can fry and egg in seconds on the starboard side. Is the next step replacing the manifold? I am hopin' for a cheaper solution before replacing the manifolds. Any ideas?

is this a setup with separate water outlets to the manifolds and risers, or 1 hose to manifold and manifold feeds the riser? although either way, there is an obstruction in water flow feeding the exhausts. remove thermostat housing and clean it out. you will find flaked off pieces of the housing or intake stuck in there. they could also go down the hose and block water at the entrance point to manifold or riser or even get inside and plug something there. manifolds getting hot are not usually bad manifolds. they are just not getting the water they need.

Is the manifold super hot too? Post up a pic of your thermostat housing so we know what you have.

Is this on the trailer with ear muffs or on the water ? How new is the impellar and it's housing ? How is the water flow out of both exhausts - if you have thru transom of course ?

Boat in salt or fresh water ?

Sadly not a thru hull system.

Will get a pic up later today of the thermo housing.

Impeller was replaced with new in fall.

Hot while in the water and the trailer

Water exiting the transom is weaker on the side with the ssue. There are two water outlets on the transom on either side of the drive.

You can use a file hosting site like Shutterfly, that's what I do.

How hot is hot? My twins run hotter SB side than port, usually 115* as compared with 140* measured with an infrared thermometer at the riser. This is normal for the engine/cooling system design. All of the above members suggestions ae on par with checks you can make.

Ok, I will try and check with a infrared thermometer today. It is hot enough where I cannot keep my hand on it for more than a second after running the boat for a few minutes. The port side is warm but I can keep my hand on it without issue.
