2002 Donzi 38 Daytona
98 Donzi 33 Daytona vs 2000 33ZX?

Looking at these two boats the major differences between the two are as follows:

98 has HP500's for power and Daytona package.

00 has 502's for power, AC/Heat and is a ZX (Not Daytona package)

Everything else is similar. I read somewhere that the hull constrution is different between the ZX model and the Daytona and the Daytona is more stick built and is lighter. Which boat is better? The ZX is 65K and the Daytona is 70K.

Help

Re: 98 Donzi 33 Daytona vs 2000 33ZX?

Where are all my fellow Donzi fans? A fellow boater and a Donzi fan seeking advice from the best place on earth and no response?

I need to make a choice which is the better boat the '98 Daytona or the '00 ZX?

I owned a 99 33ZX with 500 HP's, good solid boat with a nice cabin. Speedo said 82, GPS said 78. Not very good in rough water. 500 HP Package was trouble free and plenty of power. I moved up to a 38ZR.

How do you like the ZR? I currently have a 38 Daytona and I have driven a 38ZR with 525's. Nice boat - If you got a pic I liked to see it. So your 33 was the ZX version and not a Daytona? I think the Daytona's handle better exspecially in rough water.

.... the ZX is the model..... "Daytona" is a trim level offered by Donzi..... no difference in hulls....

I think the earlier Daytona's were lighter. It's when they started the "Vacuum Bag" process for putting the hull togerther.

I attached a pic of my ZR, I've got 525's they are solid and sound awesome.

Nice ZR MarkDonzi - Is that gas station in LOTO? It looks very familiar.

That is absolutely incorrect. The Daytona has a Kevlar/Carbon Fiber layup to offer about 600lbs weight savings. Yes it does offer a "higher" level of trim, but the hull is definitely a lighter, stronger hull.

My 01' Daytona with gen/AC is about the same weight as a standard ZX without the extras.

I would think the 2000 with 502's is probably the better buy due to the reliability of the efi, as well as 2yrs newer.
