Default Looking for restored 28 Donzi....Anybody??

We seem to have a lot of other brands that have been or are being restored, but no 28 foot Donzi's???....that was a such a great race boat there must be some of them around somewhere.

We just had a new member send us the story and photos of his restoration on the first boat that Don ever raced called..The Cigarette...it was a Formula 233 and it was a single engine 409 cu in.

Check it out on the HORBA website under the section called member's boats.

In my back yard I have a 28', my brother bought back in 1972 in Port Huron Mi the guy claimed it was the Blue Devil he also said this boat sank in Miami to Nassau race back in the 60's.
The Donzi was powered at that time with twin 440 Chrysler engines with v drives, , originally it was to have had 409 Turbo Daytona's??? It dose look like it had many change's !!! On the Donzi web site some one also has a Donzi that's was to be the Blue Devil that they are restoring,, Our's may not be the real one but could be some one's old race boat. It dose need some TLC. Hope to have it back to it's original shape soon. IT"S BIG BLUE AND COOL!!!
Will try to post a pic soon.

Any photos that you have of a restoration process, please send to the historic website of HORBA at www.historicraceboats.com and we will be very happy to post those for you.

Also please join as a member..... it is free and you don't actually have to own a historic boat to be a member, just have an interest in the old race boats.

Can't wait to see it John. If it's anything like your Hornet, it will be awesome. Catch 22 and I were talking on the phone this morning about Way Lo, even Debbie jumped in on my conversation with Jim saying how much she love that ride in your Hornet.

Are you still in St Pete? I thought I read something about you being out west somewhere.
