28ZX Scorpion HELP
Fellas, I need some help here. 2000 ZX with the 377's. I have a set of 3bl 25p lab mirage boat runs 72 gps 5000 rpm.
Also have a set of 4bl 26p lab Bravo I 74 gps 5000 rpm.
What am I doing wrong? Thought this should be an 82 mph boat with the twin step hull? Fuel leves were nearly half. 1-4 persons did not matter.
2nd question. I have been getting a lot of cavitation when getting to plane. I have backed up on the K planes and has since helped. Thanks for any and all help.

82 is a fast speed for that boat under optimal conditions. With some experience you should be able to get 75-77. The 80 range is for PERFECT conditions dialed in just right.
The best I have ever heard is 81 and that is with SM exhaust, in salt water on a good day. The driver is a guy names Mr X and he has driven many 100 Donzis so he should know what he is doing.

I have a Formula 292 with the Blue scorps -30" B1's. I see 75 under most lake conditions (excludinding a storm) and can hit 78-79 under optimal conditions (no wife, low fuel, and cool weather). I bought this praticular boat because I was so impressed with the Donzi ZX 28 scorp edition. Your boat should be able to hit high 70's easy and bump 80 in the right conditions. If memory serves... The 28zx has less free board (lower profile) and is lighter than my 292. Throw in the scorps and labbed props, you are there. Something must not be dialed in... With the 25" mirages it should be a bit slow to plane but hit 80 with a light load...

I believe you should be running the Mirage+ 23P 3 bladers. Make sure you've got the '+' and not the plane Mirage props. the Mirage+ gives you the bow lift you need for this boat. what kind of speeds/rpm's are you seeing with your current set up?
as for cavitation, make sure your drives are all the way down (inverted) when climbing out of the hole. I rarely mess with my tabs when getting up on plane (mine are K-planes set at number 2 on my dash indicator) but you may need to drop your tabs all the way down as well if cavitation persists.
